About Light Flip
Light Flip is a brain-teasing logic puzzle based on the famous Lights Out toy. The board is a grid of lights, some glowing and some dark. Tapping a light flips it and the lights next to it: glowing ones turn off and dark ones turn on. Your goal is to make the whole board dark, in as few taps as you can.
There is real mathematics behind it: tapping the same light twice cancels out, and the order of taps never matters, so every puzzle is about choosing the right set of lights. Work through ten levels that grow more complex, use up to three hints, and try the bigger 7×7 board or the tricky diagonal mode where each tap flips an X shape.
How to play
- Tap a light to flip it and its neighbours (the pattern is shown at the top).
- Make every light dark to finish the level.
- Tapping a light twice undoes it, and order never matters.
- Fewer taps than the target earn more points. Ten levels win the game.
About Light Flip
Light Flip is based on Lights Out, an electronic puzzle released by Tiger Electronics in 1995. It is beloved by mathematicians because every board can be solved with a little linear algebra.
Tips to score higher
- Use chase the lights: solve the top row by tapping the lights directly below it, row by row.
- Tapping the same light twice cancels out, so never tap a light twice.
- The order of taps doesn't matter; only which lights you tap.
- Use a hint when stuck: it shows a light that belongs to the solution.
