About Parking Jam

Parking Jam is a sliding-block logic puzzle in the tradition of the famous Rush Hour game. The red car is boxed in by cars and trucks in a crowded 6×6 car park, and the only way out is the exit on the right of its row. Every vehicle can only slide forwards or backwards along its own lane, so you have to work out which ones to shuffle, and in which order, to clear the path.

Every puzzle is generated on the spot and checked by a solver, so you always know the smallest possible number of moves. Match it to earn the top score. Easy puzzles take a handful of moves, medium ones need real planning, and hard ones can require more than a dozen precise moves.

How to play

  1. Drag a vehicle along its lane: cars facing left-right slide sideways, the others up and down.
  2. Vehicles cannot pass through each other.
  3. Get the red car to the exit on the right.
  4. A slide of any length counts as one move. Match the best possible count for the top score.

About Parking Jam

Parking Jam is inspired by the sliding-block puzzle Rush Hour, designed by Nob Yoshigahara and released in 1996. A computer solver checks every board, so you always know the best possible number of moves.

Tips to score higher

  • Work backwards: ask which car blocks the red car, then what blocks that car.
  • Trucks are three cells long; move them early.
  • Slide a car as far as it can go when that frees a lane.
  • Count your moves against the best possible number.
