About Hearts
Hearts is the classic four-player trick-taking card game where the lowest score wins. Every heart you take costs you one point and the Queen of Spades costs thirteen, so the whole game is about ducking under other players and slipping your dangerous cards onto their tricks. Each hand starts by passing three cards to another player, which lets you get rid of trouble before play begins.
You play against three computer opponents, Maya, Omar and Leo, who pass, duck and dump points with real strategy. Feeling brave? Take every heart and the Queen in one hand to shoot the moon: you score zero and everyone else takes 26. Play a full game to 100 points or a quick game to 50.
How to play
- Choose three cards to pass, then tap Pass cards.
- The 2 of clubs leads first. Follow the suit that was led if you can.
- Each heart is 1 point and the Queen of Spades is 13. Hearts cannot be led until one has been played.
- When someone reaches the limit, the lowest total wins.
About Hearts
Hearts was made famous for millions of players by early versions of Windows, but it is a much older trick-taking game. Unlike most card games, you win by taking as few points as possible.
Tips to score higher
- Pass the Queen of Spades, and high spades if you hold few spades.
- Try to empty a suit early so you can dump hearts later.
- Lead low cards in safe suits to avoid winning tricks.
- Keep an eye out for players trying to shoot the moon and grab one heart to stop them.
