About Solitaire
Solitaire is the classic Klondike card game. Build four foundation piles from Ace to King in each suit by moving cards between seven tableau columns, where cards stack in descending order and alternating colors.
Drag cards or simply tap one to send it to the best spot. Undo any move, ask for a hint, and watch the game finish itself once every card is face up. Play Draw 1 for a relaxed game, Draw 3 for the traditional challenge, or race a five-minute clock.
How to play
- Tap the stock (top left) to turn over cards.
- Stack cards in descending order with alternating colors. Only a King can go in an empty column.
- Move Aces to the foundations, then build each suit up to the King.
- Points: +10 to a foundation, +5 for turning a card, time bonus when you win.
Solitaire rules in detail
This is classic Klondike Solitaire, played with one 52-card deck. Seven tableau columns hold 28 cards, with only the bottom card of each column face up. The other 24 cards form the stock. Your goal is to move every card to the four foundations, building each suit from Ace up to King.
- In the tableau, place a card on another card one rank higher and of the opposite colour, for example a red 9 on a black 10.
- You can move a whole ordered run of face-up cards at once.
- Only a King, or a run that starts with a King, may fill an empty column.
- When the stock is empty you can turn the waste over and go through it again. In this game that costs 100 points in Draw 1 and 20 points in Draw 3.
Strategy tips that win more deals
- Uncover hidden cards first. Before you draw from the stock, look for any move that turns over a face-down card.
- Attack the tall columns. The columns on the right hide up to six cards and unlock the most options.
- Send Aces and Twos up at once, but keep middle cards (5 to 9) in the tableau while they can still hold other cards.
- Do not empty a column unless a King is ready to move into it.
- Use Hint and Undo to learn. Testing two lines and seeing which works is the fastest way to improve.
Draw 1, Draw 3 or Rush?
Start with Draw 1: every stock card is reachable on each pass, so most deals are winnable. Draw 3 is the traditional challenge, because only every third card is playable until the order shifts. 5-Min Rush rewards speed: the score counts, not the finish.
