About Neon Snake
Neon Snake is a modern take on the classic snake game. Guide your snake across a glowing grid, eat apples to grow longer and collect golden stars for bonus points. The snake speeds up with every bite, so each run gets more intense the longer you last.
Smooth movement, crisp sound effects and four game modes keep it fresh: the classic rules, a portal mode where the walls wrap around, a maze with obstacles, and a 60-second blitz where only your score counts.
How to play
- Steer the snake with the arrow keys, WASD, a swipe or the on-screen pad.
- Eat red apples for 10 points. Every fifth apple spawns a golden star worth 50.
- Avoid your own tail and, except in Portal mode, the walls.
- The snake gets faster as it grows. Plan your turns early.
How Snake works
You steer a snake around the board to eat apples. Every apple makes the snake longer and, in Classic mode, a little faster. Each red apple is worth 10 points, and every fifth apple brings a golden star worth 50. The run ends when the snake hits a wall or its own tail, so the longer you grow, the more planning you need.
A short history
The idea goes back to the 1976 arcade game Blockade. Snake became a worldwide habit in 1997, when Nokia preloaded it on the Nokia 6110, and it has been one of the most played mobile games ever since. Neon Snake keeps the classic rules and adds new modes.
Tips for a longer snake
- Follow the edges early. While the snake is short, circle the board and keep the middle free.
- Zigzag when you are long. Sweep the board in rows, leaving a corridor back to the start, so your tail always clears a path.
- Never enter a dead end. Before turning into a narrow space, make sure there is a way out larger than your length.
- Turn early, not late. As speed rises, give yourself one extra square of reaction time.
- Chase stars only when safe. 50 points are not worth a crash.
Four modes
Classic: walls are deadly and speed rises with every apple. Portal: leave one edge and reappear on the other side. Maze: solid walls inside the grid make every route a puzzle. Blitz 60s: score as much as you can in one minute.
