About Reversi

Reversi, also known as Othello, is a strategy classic played on an 8×8 board. Place a disc so that it traps a line of your opponent's discs between two of yours, and every trapped disc flips to your colour. One move can swing the whole game, and the corners can never be flipped, so the best players plan several moves ahead.

Legal moves are marked on the board and hovering a square previews exactly which discs will flip. Play an easy computer, a hard one that searches ahead and plays perfect endgames, or a friend on the same screen.

How to play

  1. Tap a marked square to place a dark disc.
  2. Every line of light discs you trap flips to dark.
  3. If you have no legal move you pass. The game ends when nobody can move; most discs wins.

About Reversi

Reversi is a strategy game played on an 8×8 board: place a disc so that you trap a line of your opponent's discs between two of yours, and they flip to your colour. The game was published in England in the 1880s and later became famous as Othello.

Tips to score higher

  • Take the corners whenever you can; a corner disc can never be flipped.
  • Avoid the squares next to an empty corner; they hand the corner to your opponent.
  • Early on, flip fewer discs and keep more possible moves (mobility).
  • Try to leave your opponent with only bad moves; a forced pass is a big advantage.
