About Checkers
Checkers, also called draughts, is a fast strategy game on the dark squares of an 8×8 board. Move diagonally, jump over enemy pieces to capture them, and reach the far side to crown a king that can move both ways.
This version follows the English rules: captures are mandatory and multi-jumps continue in one turn. Face an easy or hard computer, try Giveaway where the goal is to lose all your pieces first, or play a friend.
How to play
- Tap one of your pink pieces, then tap a highlighted square.
- If a capture is available you must take it. Glowing pieces are the ones that can capture.
- Reach the top row to crown a king that moves forward and backward.
- Win by capturing all enemy pieces or leaving them with no moves.
About Checkers
Checkers (also called draughts or Dama) is played here on the classic 8×8 board. Captures are compulsory, pieces that reach the far row are crowned kings, and you win by capturing or blocking every enemy piece.
Tips to score higher
- Keep your back row filled as long as possible to stop the opponent from crowning kings.
- Control the centre squares; pieces there have more ways to move and attack.
- Use the compulsory capture rule: offer one piece to force a reply that sets up your double jump.
- Move in groups; a lone piece is easy to trap.
- Trade pieces when you are ahead; fewer pieces make your advantage decisive.
