About Sea Battle

Sea Battle is the classic naval strategy game. Two fleets of five ships hide on 10×10 grids: a carrier, a battleship, a cruiser, a submarine and a destroyer. Take turns firing at coordinates, mark your hits and misses, and work out where each ship must be lying before the enemy does the same to you.

Shells arc across the sea, hits burst into flames and sunk ships are revealed. The Classic computer hunts methodically, the Hard one calculates where ships are most likely to be, and in Salvo you fire one shot for every ship you still have afloat.

How to play

  1. Shuffle your fleet if you like, then tap a square in the enemy waters to fire.
  2. Ships never touch, so the water around a sunk ship is revealed automatically.
  3. Sink all five enemy ships to win. Fewer shots mean a higher score.

About Sea Battle

Sea Battle is the classic naval guessing game, played on paper long before it became a board game: hide your fleet, then fire at the enemy grid until all five of their ships are sunk.

Tips to score higher

  • Hunt with a checkerboard pattern; every ship is at least two squares long, so you never need to fire at neighbouring squares while searching.
  • After a hit, try the four neighbours, then continue in the line that hits again.
  • Ships never touch, so the water around a sunk ship is safe to ignore.
  • Search the middle first; it holds more possible ship positions than the edges.
